This abstract composition features two trees, each showing different stages of leaf fading at the end of summer flowering, when colours change. One is still in the peak of its autumn display, whilst the other has faded to an insignificant tone that is hardly visible.
To emphasise the difference between the trees, there is a grey dividing path between two areas of fading grass, which have also lost the lush green of summer. In these flattened forms, bold application of thick acrylic paint in a variety of colours gives them a mix of texture. Whereas, the softer mix of blue and white paint in the upper half defines an area of sky, which hints at an area of landscape beyond the path.
