Most of February was taken up with a few experimental details of picture making and has not yet supplied me with any paintings of note, so there are no images to show as yet although I definitely think that some progress is on the way! The other major concern was to get all things ready for the New Artist Fair at Islington over the week end of the 2 & 3rd March. Well, now that it is over I can report that it had its good points but did not generate any sales for me.
There was a fairly good throughput of visitors and there was a real variety of work on display, but I don’t think any serious buyers made the trip to the gallery to buy art and a weekend is a very short time to get a presence in the marketplace. Anyway, it was a good experience and it was good to be showing again in a London gallery.
The next event for me is a trip to the Newlyn School of Art for a 3 day sketching programme to get down some Cornish landscapes and free up my image making with artist Mark Spray. This will be in the second week of April with my colleague Julie Cooper who spends a lot of time in St Ives and is keen to share the fantastic scenery down there with me. Let us hope that his will produce some wonderful new material for me to work on over the summer.
