As organiser for our local Art Society Summer Art Exhibition I have had a busy few weeks putting together a rather grand show in our local Town Hall. I thought that I should also find time to prepare some work to show there with all my fellow members, not an easy task when organising the schedule of events and helping with the task of delivering the show!!

I happened across a tourism guide for Cornwall that I had collected earlier this year, and I could not get the image on the front page out of my mind. The colours and atmosphere of those wonderful empty beaches along the Cornish coast bought back  memories of many a holiday down there and I just had to respond to those images. Getting away from the literal image on the page was a difficulty that I eventually resolved and I hope that the resulting painting evokes the transparency of the sea against those pale golden sands.

It went into the exhibition with two other works and as yet not sold – but here’s hoping, see what you think?
