Working with 16 fellow artists this year under the name of the Level 4 group at the new studios in the Insight school of Art, has seen a dramatic change in the direction of my work . As you will have gathered from the latest work on this site and from other entries on the blog there has been a shift to a more abstracted view of landscape throughout the year. I have taken many of the photos and sketches that I made during Jenny Wheatley’s painting week at Borrowdale in the Lake District in March 2010 and used them to develop my new ideas about landscape painting. This has given me the opportunity to keep a constant theme throughout the body of work and allowed me to experiment with different ways of expression and technique with each painting. I feel that I have had quite a journey and pushed the boundaries of my art in directions that I only dreamed of when I started out. I hope you can all see these changes in my work and that there is a new confidence in my picture making, with hopefully a realisation of the aims I have set out in my artist statement on the ‘about’ page of the website.
If you would like to see my work on display, I would like to invite you to an exhibition of all Level 4 artist’s work at the Insight School of Art in High Barnet during the week end of the 26 & 27th November.
