What a start to the summer! My wife and I went to 2 lovely Greek Islands during the last 2 weeks of June only to find that the temperature back in England was much the same as Greece, so the only difference was the relaxed lifestyle and beatiful beaches.
Painting has taken a bit of a back seat during these last months as there has been so much else to do on the home front, together with preparations for the Childwickbury Art Fair immediately upon our return. This was defintiely was a veture very worthwhile this year as I sold 3 paintings and thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many enthusiastic visitors interested in painting, as well as time off to enjoy the fantastic creative atmosphere that, that show provides.
The Blog title to this piece is to do with my forthcoming home spun ‘residency’ at a lovely cottage in Suffolk. I have organised a 2 week stay with 2 other artist friends in a small cottage on the suffolk coast at Eastbridge so that we can all develop paintings and artwork together, hopefully inspiring each other and finding new ways of improving our painting skills. We all get along with each other very well from past experiences on many painting courses together, and I hope that the weather will be kind to us for a few more weeks so that we can enjoy being out and about in that part of the country.
My stay at Eastbridge will need a short break on the 11th August as I will have to take 3 paintings up to the Mall Galleries for the judges to see if my work is good enough to be shown at the forthcoming exhibition for the Royal Institute of Marine Arrtists (11 -20 October). Let’s hope they think they are as good as I think they are?
Results from their decision in the next blog.
