Over the past month I have developed several paintings from the stock of photos I took whilst on a painting holiday last year at Borrowdale in theLake District.

The Cork Street Gallery in London invites submissions to the their Open Exhibition this month, and I thought that some of these works would possibly stand a chance of being selected, so I chose 3 for short listing and sent the picture files for initial judging.

My hopes were optimistic, but I knew the level of work needed to be good to stand a chance. They were not chosen, so I was of course disappointed but it was a good experience to submit the photos online and go through the scrutinising process of the judging.

Here are two of the paintings – ah well! Next year perhaps?
