Having been to the Hertford Open last year and seen the standard of entries, I thought that I would really like to see if I could come up to that standard and get one or two accepted this year. The acceptance rate is only 40% so I was going to have to aim high. It would also be a useful test for me to see if my new way of working was of interested to the judging artists.
I am glad to say that 1 out of 3 entries made the selection process and had a yes from the three judges. It did not sell, but that did not matter to me – I had the painting on show for the two weeks and I would have liked to hear some of the comments as people viewed it. I will try that particular work at another show later this year and see if I have any luck there.
